Letter From The President

Welcome to our new website, Hospicecareers.com, a website exclusively devoted to the hospice industry for both employees and their employers. Our intention in starting this site is to provide hospice employees an avenue where they can find job postings specific to the hospice industry for locations throughout the United States. We want to differentiate ourselves from the other job boards by catering to the needs of potential employees as well as the hospice employers, in an interactive environment.

People involved in the hospice industry are passionate about their work and also very proud of making a difference in the lives of others. We celebrate this passion with you by providing a forum whereby visitors to the site can exchange information with others, network with their peers, ask questions/receive answers, read about inspirational stories which further validates your choice of careers or even publicize how you or your hospice have made a difference not only in the workplace, but with your patients and their families.

This site is about you and your career. We want to provide the tools that will assist you in that job search (career resources such as resume writing, job search tips, interviewing, follow-up, etc). Establish a forum or platform for you to talk about your profession and hear similar experiences from others. You'll be able to create your own network or group of associates on the site so you can keep in touch or keep track of former colleagues that might have left the company or area. Perhaps you're experiencing a problem and would like to get answers from people who've been in your position and learn how they dealt with a difficult case or situation. Interaction and a sense of community are what we feel will differentiate this site from others. I hope you'll take the opportunity to post your resume, whether or not you're interested in a job change. You never know where that next opportunity will come from so why not be prepared? If your only interest is in participating in the forums/message boards, that's fine too.

We are always looking for content and encourage you to submit your inspirational stories and articles on how or why your hospice is a great place to work and about the impact you have on the community. You can submit these to my attention at HoltC@stthomascommunications.com. People are interested in hearing what you have to say, so why not take this opportunity to do so!

We also don't want to neglect employers who are looking to hire and want to publicize why their hospice or organization is not only a great place, but THE place to work. They too will be able to take advantage of the tools provided to visitors to the site and can interact with their peers as well as search the database for potential employees. We've developed the site to make it very user friendly so it's easy to post your opening(s) or search our database to find just the right employee for your organization. Ultimately, we want to provide salary survey information so employers can see how they stack up relative to the market in various geographic locations. Potential employees will also have access to this information so they have an idea what they can expect should they decide to relocate to a different part of the country or change jobs within the industry.

The site is all about you, your needs and your career, whether you're a nurse, social worker, chaplain or a recruiter looking to fill positions in the hospice industry, we hope you will come and visit the site often and tell your colleagues. If after looking through the various aspects of the site you think of something you'd like to see us include or an area that needs further clarification, please don't hesitate to post it on the forum or send me an email. As a former mentor of mine once said, which seems very appropriate for our journey together, "without you, we ain't!" Thanks for taking the time to visit the site and more importantly, your continued support.

Sincerely,
Chris Holt
President, Hospicecareers.com
